The Corset Trend

The Corset has come a long way since its inception as an undergarment that trained one's body to have good posture. During the time, having upright posture was a mark of class distinction and it was equally important for women's figures to be slim around their bust and hips. The recent corset comeback, which can perhaps be attributed to the newly popular show Bridgerton, reclaims these antiquated ideals and has changed the narrative to represent independence, body-positivity, and defiance against class structures. Women now feel confident sporting this garment and have fun showcasing their own style by wearing unique designs and silhouettes. Celebrities have also served as a vehicle to bring the corset into mainstream culture, and have given us inspiration and styling tips in the photos below.
